How Beetles Gel Polish Became Popular

 Beetles Gel Polish to Blame

It is true that before all this drama, Beetles‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ was actually going quite well, and they were famous too. And just in case you’re wondering like why that was the case, see, the company put out full nail kits that included several gel colors and a small UV lamp for a cost that was way below that of one salon visit. No doubt, when you’re offering all this, a lot of people were attracted to the fact that the application was very easy and the results took quite a long time. At first, it all looked good, but then the skin issues started popping up and a lot of people started reporting it too.

When The Complaints Started

It was actually in 2023 when it kinda became a trend of sharing personal experiences after using the Beetles gel polish exploded on the internet. Actually, those were the skin reactions that were catching a lot of people’s attention out there. You know like, there were some who experienced redness or itching immediately after curing; a few talked about peeling nails and swelling of the cuticle area. Also, there was a group of people whose reaction looked very much like chemical burns.

One of the creators, Nail Narrative, said that the use of Beetles made her develop an allergy to gel. In addition, she went further with the product ingredient investigation and posted her discovery on the ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌internet.

The Key Discovery

One‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ of her videos, Nail Narrative, was dissecting the Safety Data Sheets for Beetles products. The formula, as per her, had a significantly elevated level of monomers. And in the case where the gel has more monomer than the curing ingredients can handle, the polish will not cure completely. It might even be that the surface is dry, but the middle part is still uncured.

And just so you know, allergic reactions, such as itching, burning, and swelling, can be caused if uncured gel comes in contact with the skin.

How Beetles Responded

When this video went viral, no doubt, Beetles had to come forward, and that’s what they did. They kept on maintaining the same stance that their products are safe if used in the correct manner. But they kinda became uneasy whenever they talked about the proportions of the ingredients used in the products and more about the curing process. That right there was what people referring to as a red flag.

Is There a Lawsuit?

Well, it is true that several‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ users reached out to law firms inquiring about a class action suit, around the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025. The primary allegations involve misleading ingredient listings, lack of adequate warnings, and products that, you know, might be unsafe for typical domestic use. Although there is no formal statement regarding a settlement at this point, a few law offices are still gathering testimonials from the ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌victims.

Not Everyone Had Issues

First‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ of all, one needs to be aware that not every client has reported a bad experience. There are still a number of people who claim that the kits function flawlessly for them and that they have never had a reaction whatsoever. The outcomes appear to be highly different for each ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌individual. So, still, yes, there are a lot of people who are out there using these products and still getting the result.
