What Do the Posts Say About His Job?

And if you have come here searching for the viral version of the story, well, that has a lot to do with a McDonald’s workplace dispute, like, there were some posts being made on social media about how he dealt with racial discrimination and wrongful termination at his workplace, and that too by this employer.

And yes, you must have heard in some social media posts or some people talking about how there is a “more than one million dollars” payout, but is that even true, though? But in reality, we didn’t find anything related to that online or any case document suggesting that, so we can’t say that for sure.

What Happened at the Bank?

The‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ bank incident is the one that received the lion’s share of online attention. As per the viral story, McDonald went to a TCF Bank branch to make a deposit of a settlement check. The bank staff supposedly doubted the check’s authenticity and even the police were called.

The publications state that he was held up during the verification of the matter. Besides that, the narrative suggests that he took the bank to court on grounds of racial discrimination and emotional distress, and the bank eventually gave him a new settlement.

However, the online version did not disclose specific settlement amounts or produce verified court documents associating directly the name Abraham ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌McDonald.

In these reports, the person concerned was named as Sauntore Thomas, who lives in Detroit. From the media coverage at that time, it is known that Thomas had already resolved a discrimination case against his employer through a confidential agreement.

Subsequently, he came to the TCF Bank with 3 settlement checks that added up to $99,000. These checks were supposedly for $59,000, $27,000, and $13,000, respectively. When bank staff got suspicious, they called the police for verification. Thomas was not handcuffed and, in fact, no criminal charges have been leveled against him. In fact, he took the matter to court against the bank for an undetermined amount of ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌damages.
