Why Do People Still Talk About This Lawsuit?

The‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ real reason why this case grabbed so much spotlight was simply the timing. In 2016, Donald Trump was already campaigning to be the president of the United States, and several stories about his sexual misconduct of him were being discussed in the news.

During that time, a lot of women were speaking of their experiences of sexually inappropriate behaviors. Some instances were unwanted touching or forceful kissing. And just in case you don’t know, there truly are some stories relating to all this that go back as far as the 80s and 90s. Though, so far, of course, Trump has denied everything.

And sure enough, when Katie Johnson came out in this case, that became a point of discussion for millions in the country, and that too, almost overnight.

What Was The Connection Between Trump And Epstein?

One‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ more reason why the lawsuit drew attention was the tie of Donald Trump to Jeffrey Epstein.

Back in the 1990s, these two guys were reportedly going to the same places. It is even said they went to some of the same parties and events. So far, we already know how Epstein was a very rich financier, you know, who later down the line came to be famously known for being charged with very serious crimes of sexually exploiting young girls.

What Did “Katie Johnson” Claim?

The‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ case was initially brought by a person calling herself/kay using the name “Katie Johnson,” which was not even close to her real name. However, in the court papers, she was also identified as “Jane Doe,” a standard name that is often used whenever somebody wants to stay a secret in a legal situation.

The complaint was that such things happened in 1994 when she stated she was 13 years old. She was luring the scandalous catch, turning the situation over to the police, claiming that Epstein had promised her a modeling career if she went along with him.

In the lawsuit, it was mentioned that she was taken to Epstein’s parties in his house in New York City. Against the backdrop of these gatherings, a report alleged that she had been sexually abused by both Epstein and Donald Trump.

The court papers laid out and also talked about some more alleged events which she said had taken place over about four months. She also “said she was intimidated and advised not to disclose what happened.” ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌

When Were The Lawsuits Filed?

The‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ legal actions in 2016 were scattered across several phases.

The initial lawsuit was brought in April 2016 before a federal court in California. The dismissal of that case followed shortly after, mainly due to some paperwork issues.

After that, the second lawsuit was initiated in June 2016, but this time in New York. Once again, the plaintiff was identified as “Jane Doe,” and the charges continued to refer to the incidents that allegedly took place in 1994.

In September and October 2016, further submissions with extended details about the accusations were made. A press conference was arranged during which the woman was expected to reveal the case publicly.

However, circumstances took a turn and those plans did not ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌materialize.
