For those who don’t know anything about it yet, well, Ozempic, as a matter of fact, was initially made for people having type 2 diabetes to be able to keep their blood sugar levels under control. By August 2025, the number of lawsuits filed had already exceeded 2,190, and the trend was still upward. In case the initial MDL experiments (also known as bellwether trials) are successful for the patients, it is likely that Novo Nordisk will decide to settle the remaining cases rather than handling them individually. There’s already quite a bit of data and research out there. For example:
- Research in the medical area in the year 2023 has discovered that Ozempic could be a potential driver for gastroparesis.
- The CDC followed nearly 25,000 emergency department visits over one year that were associated with the active component of Ozempic, semaglutide, and a large number of them were connected with stomach problems.
- A number of research works, findings of which have been published in such journals as JAMA, mention the association of semaglutide with abrupt eye troubles, going even to total blindness caused by nerve damage.
- Besides, the patients also have their health records, doctors’ statements, and hospital admissions as evidence for their allegations.
